If a 'locus magicalicus' is a focus for magic, this book is one too. I was enchanted - Joseph Delaney
Product Description
Conn is following a shooting star through a wilderness of woods and mountains, far from his home. What is he up to? Conn thinks the star will lead him to his locus magicalicus, or wizard stone. He needs this to save his city of Wellmet, whose magic is close to dying. With a new order of exile from Wellmet, this time with a death penalty, Conn has never been in such a tight fix. When a flame dragon shoots from the sky to pick him up in his mouth, Conn is swept away to a further adventure. Who is the dragon and will Conn ever get back to save his city, and himself, in time? From the Inside Flap
Sneaking out of prison isn't easy, unless you are a thief, or a wizard. Luckily, Conn is both! Trouble is, once he's out, where does he go? His home is a pile of rubble since he blew it up making magic and his master, the wizard Nevery, is very angry. With a new order of exile, this time with a death penalty, Conn has never been in such a tight fix.
But Wellmet is in danger from an evil predator coming to destroy the city. Conn has no choice but to set off on a quest to find something that will help him fight it back. After an explosive experiment, he follows the call of his magic stone to a distant land. When Conn is swept away in the mouth of something terrifying and unworldly, he is to face a power unlike any other... is he a match for it and can he save his city, and himself, in time?
An atmospheric, masterful, and truly moving finale to a unique and exciting trilogy of magic and adventure.
